Gardens by the Bay – Largest Wireless Greenhouse Sensor Project in Asia Pacific - Singapore
Background
Gardens by the Bay, Singapore’s iconic urban park, spans 105 hectares in the Central Region, attracting over 50 million visitors annually and ranking as the eighth-best attraction in the world. The park is home to breathtaking landmarks, including the world’s largest Flower Dome.
In alignment with Singapore’s vision to transform from a “Garden City” to a “City in a Garden,” Gardens by the Bay partnered with Powerplants and Priva to undertake Asia Pacific’s largest wireless greenhouse sensor installation. The project reflects Singapore’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in urban horticulture.
Challenges
- Monitoring and managing micro-climates across expansive, diverse environments in the Cloud Forest, Flower Dome, and Floral Fantasy.
- Optimizing soil conditions and irrigation strategies to sustain world-class plant displays while conserving resources.
- Providing actionable data to the horticultural team to enhance plant health and aesthetic appeal.
The Solution
Powerplants and Priva collaborated to install 255 wireless sensors in partnership with Aranet and local integration partner Winsys. The sensors measure critical environmental and soil parameters, including:
- Air Temperature and Humidity
- PAR Light
- Soil Moisture, Nutrition, and Temperature
This advanced monitoring system enables real-time analysis of micro-climates and soil conditions across the domes.
